Did you see that the South Valley Journal recently had a front page article about Riverton being the third-best small city in the U.S.? This is no small accomplishment, and I’m loving it!
NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, looked at growth, affordability, and fulfillment of basic needs to make their calculations. Senior analyst Divya Raghavan started out with 924 cities across the country with populations between 25,000 and 100,000.
“Riverton was our smallest city in the top 10”, Raghavean said. “But we were impressed with the fact that it also had the lowest poverty rate int he top 10. It was important to us that we found cities where everyone was doing well, not just a select few with high incomes while others struggled to get by. It really made Riverton stick out to us.”
Riverton was the only city in the top 10 to have no population growth. The growth that mattered in the survey was income growth and change in poverty rate. While the population didn’t change, the average income in Riverton increased over 18%! That’s the largest growth of any city in the top 10. Riverton also had the lowest poverty rate in the top 10.
I LOVE living in Riverton! What do YOU love about Riverton?
